The Lez river starts in St Clément de Rivière and flows into the Mediterranean sea in Palavas-les-Flots.
It goes through 9 cities : Saint-Clément-de-Rivière, Les Matelles, Prades-le-Lez, Montferrier-sur-Lez, Clapiers, Montpellier, Castelnau-le-Lez, Lattes et Palavas-les-Flots and is 28,5 km long.
In the XVIIth century, Montpellier traded with other cities of the Mediterranean thanks to the river Lez.
